Biography:
After completing an executive secretarial course of study, Ms. Sandra Mershon traveled to Pine Ridge, South Dakota, where she worked as a volunteer at the Red Cloud Indian Reservation for one year before relocating to Denver, Colorado. While in Denver, she was employed as a typist for the Mountain Bell Yellow Pages; a technical typist at the University of Denver Research Institute; and then later as an accounts receivable officer at the Adolph Coors Brewery in Golden, Colorado.
Upon her return to Ohio, Ms. Mershon enrolled in the University of Rio Grande where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in business education. Subsequently, she worked as a graduate assistant while pursuing a Master's degree. During this time, she also served as administrative assistant to the Director of the South Regional Professional Development Center when it was housed at the University of Rio Grande. (This organization provides professional development to educators in eight southeastern Ohio counties.)
Ms. Mershon is currently an Assistant Professor of Office Technology at the University of Rio Grande. She has taught in the Office Technology program since 1985.
During her tenure at the University of Rio Grande, Ms. Mershon conducted several professional development seminars for area employees, was instrumental in developing the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) program, and served as a Project Jumpstart advisor.
